Goodbye to the Intel Core i3, i5, i7 and i9 processors.

The new Intel Core Ultra processors are here.

Intel will change the name of its processors! There will be no more Intel Core i3, Core i5, Core i7 or Core i9! Instead, it will be Intel Core Ultra 3, 5, 7 and 9!

Bernard Fernandes, director of communications at Intel made a very important announcement about the next chips of the brand: a name change. We know Intel processors with their current name since late 2008, with the launch of the first Intel Core i3, Core i5 and Core i7 processors. Then, afterwards, Intel added the Core i9 processor to its range dedicated to workstations and laptops.

In the second half of 2023, and 15 years later, the giant Intel will launch its new Meteor Lake processors and this new generation will get a new name: Intel Core Ultra. Even if for the moment we do not know the names of the future series of processors, there are still some information that have leaked. In particular, details about a new chip named Intel Core Ultra 5 1003H that appeared on the benchmark site Ashes of Singularity.

This new name should benefit the new models of processors for mobile platforms (laptops, etc.). We don’t know if this will be adopted for the desktop CPU range as well.

It remains to be seen what improvements will be made to these new chips. This name change can be associated with a new beginning at Intel. At a time when artificial intelligence is increasingly present in software and operating systems, it is hard not to imagine that something is brewing… Some time ago, it was mentioned that Microsoft’s next system, namely Windows 12, should rely on AI thanks to Intel’s future chips.
